The Goldbergs, 8 PM on Ch. 22 and Ch. 9:

ABC is promoting “The Goldbergs: 1990-Something” as a special event, but it’s actually a pilot for a quasi-spinoff that takes place in the same Philadelphia high school Adam Goldberg and his siblings once attended. This new show takes place in the 1990s, though, as former teacher John Glascott (Tim Reid), now head of school, leads a faculty of teachers with clashing views on how best to mentor students. Nia Long and Bryan Callen also star; Wendi McClendon Covey guest stars.

Secrets of the Dead, 10 PM on Ch. 16 and Ch. 48; 3 AM on Ch. 16 and Ch. 48:

The only one of the fabled seven wonders of the world that is still standing, the Great Pyramid of Khufu has fascinated visitors and archaeologists for centuries. The new documentary “Scanning the Pyramids” delves into the legends about secret chambers in the heart of this structure as it follows the first scientific mission in 30 years to be authorized by the Egyptian government for such a purpose. The team uses state-of-the-art, non-invasive technologies to find the long-hidden secrets still locked inside.
