County Corp hosting public meeting Jan. 29

- STAFF REPORT

County Corp, in partnership with Harrison Township and Montgomery County, will facilitate the first public meeting to initiate feedback on the Forest Park Area Plan. The meeting will be held on Monday, Jan. 29, at Horizon Science Academy located at 250 Shoup Mill Road. Doors will open at 5:30 p.m.; the meeting will begin promptly at 6 p.m.

Those who are interested may join the meeting and share their opinion about the redevelopment of the study area generally bounded by North Main Street, East Nottingham Road, Shoup Mill Road, Riverside Drive, and their adjacent parcels.

The Forest Park Study Area has a rich history as an entertainment destination. A sizable portion of the Study Area was once the site of an amusement park and later transformed into a shopping plaza. Today, these 55-plus acres sit as mostly vacated space with insurmountable potential for something new and exciting. Additional reinvestment has been occurring in the Study Area over the last couple of years.

MKSK Studios, consultants out of Covington, Kentucky, will manage the flow of the meeting and encourage active engagement to recruit ideas and suggestions from residents, leaders, and business owners. The project seeks to develop an economically sustainable plan to develop the Forest Park Study Area. Engagement by local citizens is essential for the project’s success.

Prior to the first public meeting, County Corp encourages participation in a survey that was developed to gather initial feedback on the Study Area. The survey link is www.surveymonkey.com/r/ForestParkPlan.
