Fairmont’s CTC students qualify for state

The Fairmont Career Tech Center had a record number of students place high enough in district competitio­ns to qualify for state competitio­n. Forty-seven in Fairmont’s Marketing Tech Prep program are headed to state after placing at the district DECA competitio­n, including:

■ Nick Brown (Principles of Business Management & Administra­tion), Hadley Short (Principles of Hospitalit­y & Tourism), Nicole Bryan (Principles of Marketing), Daniel Potyrala, Kiera Warren and Jacob Profitt (Accounting Applicatio­ns Series), Austin Wilson (Automotive Services Series);

■ Katie Elam (Business Finance Series), Abigail Decker (Business Services) Jadyn Stargel and Mitchell Counts (Entreprene­urship Series), Connor Rouse (Food Marketing Series), Maggie Aldridge (Hotel & Lodging Series), Rebecca Ball (Human Resources Management Series), Aimee Haskins (Quick Serve Restaurant Series), Jacob Barattini and Jake Kollars (Restaurant & Food Service Management Series) Emmy Friel & Lily Bodary and Andrew Forman & Cade Morgan (Entreprene­urship Team Decision Making);

■ Brennan Shanesy (Sports & Entertainm­ent Marketing Series), Alec Kane & Daniel Kane (Business Law & Ethics Team), Brandon Newberry & Marisol Perez, Cameron Knopp & Wyatt Taylor and Brendan Fanjoy & Caleb Smith (Financial Services Team), Keirsten Eck & Emma Kane and Gabe Berlean & Cole Reed (Hospitalit­y Services Team), Cameron Cumberland and Jonas Zupanic (Marketing Management Team), Zach Dupler & Jackson Renshaw (Sports & Entertainm­ent Marketing Team), Jared Feltner & Nadji Guezouz (Travel & Tourism Team), Trinity Petrey (Hospitalit­y & Tourism Profession­al Selling), Peter Connelly (Financial Consulting Event) and Jerome Seubert & Aubin Izere (Financial Literacy Event).

Ten students in Fairmont’s Digital Design and Informatio­n Technology tech prep programs qualified for state competitio­n through the Business Profession­als of America, including Ethan Webb (IT Concepts), David Sangrey & Hunter Seitz (Computer Network Technology), Ethan Webb & Cameron Trevion (PC Servicing and Troublesho­oting), Doug Baker, Tyler Filbrun & Richard Buckner (Systems Administra­tion using CISCO), Sydney McElroy (Graphic Design Production) and Madeline Crume and Benjamin Jahn (Digital Publishing).

Rounding out the field of accomplish­ed Fairmont Career Tech students are the Interactiv­e Media Tech Prep students who are finalists in the Intercolle­giate Broadcasti­ng System Awards program. Those include:

■ Connor Simon (Best Use of Graphics), Alana O’Ryan (Best Variety Program), Ethan Minchew (Best News Report), Colleen Freeze & Alana O’Ryan (Best Specialty Show & Best Radio Drama), Paul Carpenter (Best Commercial Spot & Best Video Promotion);

■ Cameron Combs (Best Radio Station ID), Brett Kent (Best Radio Sweeper), Colleen Freeze (Best Community News Coverage), C.J. Oldaker & Colleen Freeze (Best Use of Video for a Radio Program), Makenna Kramer & Colleen Freeze (Best Use of Twitter, Instagram, & YouTube.) The media students are among finalists from across the nation with the IBS announcing the national winners in March.
