Child Abuse Bureau makes addition
Montgomery County Prosecuting Attorney Mat Heck, Jr. announced that Dylan G. Smearcheck has been assigned to the position of assistant prosecuting attorney in the Child Abuse Bureau of the Prosecutor’s Office, located at the local children’s advocacy center, CARE House. Smearcheck received her undergraduate degree in Justice Studies from Kent State University in Kent, Ohio in 2005. She received her law degree from the Mortiz College of Law at Ohio State University in 2009.
She joined the prosecutor’s office in June 2014 and was assigned to the Juvenile Division. She was then assigned to the Appellate Division, and the Intake/Grand Jury Section before being promoted to Criminal Docket Attorney in March 2016.
As an Assistant Prosecuting Attorney in the CAB, she will prosecute felony child abuse cases, including physical and sexual abuse cases, for which the victim is less than 13 years old; where the victim is 13- to 18-years-old and the offender is a family or household member; and where the victim is up to 21-years-old and is mentally or physically handicapped.
