A military veteran was injured at the Miami Armory on Friday afternoon with a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the buttocks, said owner David Becker.

Becker said the man shot himself while reholstering a semi-automatic weapon he was showing an armory employee. He said the man, who he declined to identify, was alert before being taken by medic to an area hospital.

Becker said no other individuals were near the location where the gun discharged.

The victim is also the range safety officer who purchases items at the armory on Kingsridge Drive frequently, Becker said.

The holster’s “leather grabbed the trigger and he shot himself in the buttocks,” Becker said. “So I’m sure his pride hurt a little more than his buttocks do.”
