Police: Man hid in home before rape

-

A Cleveland man broke into a woman’s home, hid in the bathroom and waited for her to come home so he could attack and rape her, police said.

Billy Tinker, 25, is charged with rape, aggravated burglary, felonious assault and kidnapping in the Thursday incident on West 56th Street in the city’s Stockyards neighborhood, according to court records.

He is not in police custody and a warrant was issued Saturday for his arrest.

Tinker broke into a home and hid in the bathroom, according to court records. He jumped out of his hiding spot and attacked the woman when she walked into the bathroom, police said.

He ripped off the woman’s clothes, raped her and demanded to know if she was sleeping with someone else, court records say.

Tinker then punched the woman in the face and bit her across her body, court records say. He then strangled her until she lost consciousness, court records say.

The woman woke up and saw Tinker climbing out of the window, court records say.

He stole her purse and the keys to her friend’s 2013 Volkswagen Passat, then jumped into the car and drove away, police said.

The woman needed about nine stitches for injuries she suffered in the attack and rape, court records say.

Tinker’s lengthy criminal history including several charges accusing him of violent offenses against the woman, according to court records.

He has been charged with assault, domestic violence and unlawful restraint four times since December 2016, court records say. The charges were dismissed in each case.

Tinker also spent a year in prison after he violated the terms of his probation in 2013, when he was convicted in four separate drug trafficking cases, records say.
