Movie: Notes From the Field, 8 PM on HBO; 4:10 AM on HBO:

Actress and storytelle­r Anna Deavere Smith brings her critically acclaimed Off-Broadway one-woman show about America’s failed justice system to a much wider audience in this new TV adaptation, which finds Smith portraying an entire gallery of diverse characters. Among them: deli worker Kevin Moore, who caught the Freddie Gray beating on video, and Bree Newsome, the activist who climbed a South Carolina flagpole to remove a Confederat­e flag from statehouse grounds. Jazz bassist Marcus Shelby provides musical accompanim­ent.

Planet Earth: Blue Planet II, 9 PM on BBCA; 12:30 AM on BBCA:

One of the best episodes in this series, the new “Coasts” explores how different species of wildlife survive in an environmen­t where two worlds collide. Sea lions may lack the speed to catch the 130-pound tuna that are among their favorite quarries, but by working as a team and literally herding their fishy prey, the sea lions force the tuna into the shallows, where they become easy pickings. Puffins returning with food for their pufflings must fight off other sea birds.

Falling Water, 10 PM on USA; 1:01 AM on USA:

Tess (Lizzie Brochere) helps Barton (David Ajala) confront his past, while Shadowman (Dru Viergever) somehow stays a step ahead of Alex and Taka (Sepideh Moafi, Will Yun Lee) in the new episode “Nothing Personal.” Bill Boerg (Zak Orth) takes a moment to remember his lost sister, and Woody (Kai Lennox) agrees to help bring down billionair­e investor Taylor Bennett.
