Report: Claire’s Stores to file for bankruptcy

Claire’s Stores Inc., a fashion accessories chain, will reportedly file for bankruptcy in the coming weeks.

A deal would pass control from Apollo Global Management to lenders including Monarch Alternative Capital and Elliott Capital Management, Bloomberg said.

Apollo paid more than $3 billion to acquire Hoffman Estates, Ill.-based Claire’s from founder Rowland Schaefer.

Claire’s has locations at The Greene Town Center, the Dayton Mall, the Mall at Fairfield Commons, Upper Valley Mall in Springfield and the Cincinnati Premium Outlets in Monroe.
