Treatment Court has graduation ceremony

The Montgomery County Juvenile Court; Family Treatment Court will hold a graduation ceremony at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday in Courtroom #1 at the Juvenile Justice Center, 380 W. Second St. This is the first graduation ceremony since the inception of the program in October 2016.

Four families are expected to successful­ly graduate from the Family Treatment Court program. This ceremony marks their completion of an intensive program of comprehens­ive drug and alcohol treatment, mental health treatment, family counseling, strength-based interventi­ons and accountabi­lity. Most importantl­y, will be the celebratio­n of the reunificat­ion of these families. Graduates and their children will be given the opportunit­y to share their incredible stories of how they have been successful in changing their lives through numerous setbacks and personal challenges. The Honorable Judges Nick Kuntz and Tony Capizzi will be opening the ceremony with words of encouragem­ent for the graduates and their families.

Montgomery County Family Treatment Court is designed to improve the safety and well-being of children in the dependency system by providing parents access to drug and alcohol treatment, judicial monitoring of their sobriety, and individual­ized services to support the entire family. The mission of Family Treatment Court is to ensure children are raised in a nurturing and healthy environmen­t with parents who are drug free.
