The Dayton Foundation is seeking individuals to serve as Fellows to be matched with one of three new Dayton-area not-for-profit organizations selected to participate in the Del Mar Encore Fellows Initiative. Candidates must be retired or career-transitioning older adults (age 55 or older) with professional, management or executive-level experience. During the fellowship period, Fellows will commit 20 to 32 hours per week for a renewable 12-month contract, for which they will earn a stipend of $25,000 annually.
Fellows are sought for the following organizations and projects, selected for the second phase of the Del Mar Encore Fellows Initiative.
■ Dayton Metro Library: The Fellow will evaluate the needs for after-school, homework help programs and review best practice programs currently in place locally and nationally. The Fellow will identify at least two additional locations and recruit, train and supervise Encore volunteers as homework helpers. The goal is to establish a sustainable, Libraryled Homework Help program as a volunteer-powered initiative at multiple Dayton Metro Library branches.
■ National Conference for Community and Justice: The Fellow will engage and supervise a diverse group of high-level Encore volunteers to research the demand in the Dayton Region for diversity and inclusion education and training. The Fellow also will identify resources currently available, including private consultants, other nonprofits and universities. If a continuing, unmet need is revealed, the research may include reviewing existing models of diversity and inclusion centers.
■ St. Mary Development Corporation: The Fellow will identify baseline competency and capacity of St. Mary Development Corporation senior residents to use technology for access to healthcare and other services, research current and emerging technologies and develop a plan to improve access to services through the implementation of technology for vulnerable residents.
Individuals interested in applying to be a Fellow must send a resume with a brief cover letter to Noreen Willhelm at nwillhelm@daytonfoundation.org or by mail to The Dayton Foundation, 40 N. Main Street, Suite 500, Dayton, Ohio, 45423. More information is available online at www.daytonfoundation.org/delmarencore.html. The deadline to apply is June 29, 2018.
