Stakes are even higher as ‘GLOW’ returns for round 2
Don’t miss: “GLOW” — As the Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling return for Round 2, they’re confronting the good, the bad, and the ugly realities that come with being fresh-faced, basic-cable celebrities. Meanwhile, Ruth and Debbie settle into the day-to-day rigors of making the show together while dealing with the thorny issues that continue to plague their friendship. Also, Sam is getting even crankier now that he has a teen daughter to care for and 20 episodes of low-budget TV to churn out. Sunday: Season 3 of “Preacher” follows Jesse’s quest for God, which takes him back to the place he’s been avoiding all his life: home. Monday: “Cultureshock” is a five-part documentary series that promises to take an in-depth look at the untold stories behind watershed moments in pop culture. Tonight’s opener examines pop star Michael Jackson’s final days before his shocking death. (9 p.m., A&E).
Tuesday: In the new standup comedy special, “W. Kamau Bell: Private School Negro,” the Berkeley, Calif.-based socio-political comedian sounds off on the current presidential administration, racism in America, parenting mixed race daughters, and what it would be like if Michelle Obama still had a job in the White House. Wednesday: Can you believe “Big Brother” is about to kick off its 20th season? Yeah, neither can we. The 16 lab rats, er, contestants are introduced tonight. (8 p.m., CBS).
Thursday: The thrilling first season of “Marvel’s Cloak & Dagger” continues as Tandy is consumed with getting answers about the Roxxon cover-up. Tyrone, on the other hand, is focusing on being a normal kid as the basketball state finals approach. (8 p.m., Freeform).
Friday: Dean Cain returns to host another season of “Masters of Illusion,” the series that shines a spotlight on magicians and escape artists who dabble in all sorts of hocus-pocus. Better watch before the show vanishes into thin air. (8 p.m., The CW).
Saturday: Viewers with a fear of clowns would be wise to avoid “It,” the 2017 big-screen adaptation of Stephen King’s horror novel about a group of kids who are terrorized by a malevolent force. Don’t say we didn’t warn you. (8 p.m., HBO).
