Classes educate those who have Hepatitis C

Public Health — Dayton Montgomery County has launched a series of classes to educate individual­s who have contracted Hepatitis C. The “Living 4 Me – Understand­ing Hepatitis C” class will teach people about treatment options, healthy eating, how to understand liver tests and more.

Classes are held monthly at the Dr. Charles R. Drew Health Center, 1323 W. Third Street, from 4 to 5 p.m. on the following dates: July 12, Aug. 9, Sept. 13, Oct. 11, Nov. 8 and Dec. 13.

Healthy snacks will be provided and new attendees will have a chance to win a $50 gift card. For more details call 937225-4013.

People born from 1945 - 1965, or “Baby Boomers”, are five times more likely to have the HCV. Most Baby Boomers are believed to have become infected in the 1960s - 1980s when transmissi­on of the HCV was the highest. People born from 1945 - 1965, as well as anyone else at risk should get tested.
