Buckeyes land QB prospect for 2020

Jack Miller, the No. 3 prostyle quarterback prospect in the 2020 recruiting cycle, committed to Ohio State on Sunday as expected.

From Chaparral High School in Scottsdale, Arizona, where he started as a sophomore last year, he made his decision known via Twitter.

“The Ohio State University. Committed,” Miller wrote, with a photo of him in an Ohio State uniform accompanying the post.

His commitment was no surprise. The smiles he bore leaving OSU’s “Friday Night Lights” camp late last week were indications he’d made up his mind, and he simply followed through on what appeals to him about Ohio State.

“Everything. The culture, the coaching staff, the great players they draw in,” Miller said. “My chances for life after football, too (with the programs coach Urban Meyer has put in place to enlighten his players about such). They’ve got a great program going on.”

Miller, 6 feet 4 and 210 pounds, picked the Buckeyes over the other four in his top five, which included Ole Miss, Auburn, LSU and South Carolina.

The Buckeyes, who have just three scholarship quarterbacks on the roster for the 2018 season, now have QBs committed to their next two classes, including Dwan Mathis of Oak Park High School in Belleville, Michigan, who a week ago flipped from his pledge to Michigan State and joined the 2019 OSU group. Miller said Meyer and offensive coordinator/quarterbacks coach Ryan Day told him he would be the only quarterback in their 2020 class.

Meanwhile, Miller also said J.T. Barrett has given him insight on what to expect if he eventually becomes the OSU starter.

“He said it’s a lot of pressure, but if you win games it’s worth it, for sure,” Miller said.
