Board of Education takes next levy renewal step

- NANCY BOWMAN, CONTRIBUTING WRITER

The Troy City Schools Board of Education took the second of two steps needed to place a permanent improvement levy renewal on the November ballot during its meeting Monday.

The 1.1-mill levy currently generates around $700,000 a year for improvement projects such as roof and asphalt work. The first step in the election process was for the district to ask the county auditor to certify the amount the levy would generate. That was done at the board’s June meeting .The second step asks the Miami County Board of Elections to place the tax request for a five-year renewal on the November ballot.
