The Miami Valley will face hot and muggy temperatures this weekend as another streak of days with temperatures in the 90s hits the area.

Temperatures will rise to the lower to middle 90s this weekend. Due to higher humidity, those temperatures will feel closer to 100 degrees at times, said Storm Center 7 Meteorologist Brett Collar.

The heat comes as some local fairs wrap up. Logan County and Clinton County fairs end Saturday, and the Montgomery County Fair ends Sunday. Attendees should make sure to drink plenty of water to stay hydrated, officials said.

“If you have any plans to be outside for more than just a few minutes this weekend, it’s important to stay hydrated,” Collar said.

The temperatures will rise today as a change in wind direction pushes in more moisture and heat. This afternoon will be sunny with highs around 90 degrees. Heat index values will be in the lower 90s due to added humidity.

Saturday will be partly cloudy with highs in the lower 90s. The hot and muggy weather will feel more like 100 degrees. Similar hot, humid weather will occur Sunday with a chance of pop-up showers and thunderstorms in the evening and afternoon.

Temperatures will return to the 80s early next week. Monday will have a chance of scattered showers and storms that may bring heavy rain, gusty winds, hail and lightning.

Collar said the heat wave is similar to the rising temperatures that occurred mid-June and at the beginning of July, but this heat wave won’t last as long as those did.
