Curated art exhibition at Dayton library
The Dayton Society of Artists has announced that Create, a curated exhibition featuring the Dayton Society of Artist’s Permanent Collection will be at the Downtown Dayton Metro Library during the month of August. The Permanent Collection began in 1938 with the tradition of each president of the board donating a piece of artwork to the Dayton Society of Artists. Since its formation, the DSA has supported local artists by providing professional development workshops, artist workshops, public art lectures and the brand new Arts Tools Library.
This exhibition is made possible through the efforts of Custom Frames Services, who have helped in the conservation and reframing of the DSA’s more aged pieces.
The opening reception for Create is during Art in the City, where the public is invited to make a piece of art inspired by one of the exhibited works. The public may make and take or have their artwork go on display in the exhibition next to the artwork of their inspiration.
The public art making event as well the DSA’s summer youth classes are made possible by Plaza Arts, who have generously donated quality art supplies for participants to use in its continual support of community art making events.
