Huber Heights HUBER HEIGHTS — police have arrested a man on a preliminary charge of murder, according to online jail records, and while officers would not comment about if he’s connected to the shooting death of a teenager over the weekend, 911 calls paint a much clearer picture of what happened.

Levi Dalton Lambert, 19, was arrested shortly after 2 p.m. Sunday near the intersection of Powell Road and Jansin Place, records show. Lambert’s arrest occurred following the fatal shooting of Evan Lewis, 19, about a block away near Bellefontaine Road and Hilgeford Drive.

Officers said as of Monday afternoon that the investigation is ongoing and they would not release any more details surrounding Lambert’s arrest or if it was connected to Sunday’s fatal shooting.

The Dayton Daily News used public records laws to obtain 911 calls that paint a picture of a frantic scene following the shooting.

One caller tells the dispatcher that Lewis is “bleeding and has been shot in the lung and he can’t breathe,” adding, “the shooter took off and ran down Bellefontaine and he’s a redhead wearing a red shirt.”

The caller and others in the background start CPR until paramedics arrive.

Another caller, whose voice is muffled, manages to tell the dispatcher when asked that the name of the shooter is Levi.

A man who just happened upon the scene said, “He’s (Lewis) laying right here on this road.” The caller explains that he didn’t witness the shooting, but he did see “a red-headed kid with no shirt on running up ... there’s a bunch of people here trying to hold him.”

Lewis was the second teen killed in Huber Heights in recent months.

On May 28, a 19-year-old Sinclair College student was killed in his parents’ Huber Heights garage on Charnwood Drive around 3 a.m. after police said a male approached Sorin Farcas and a friend before shooting Farcas.

Tylin Watson, 18, remains in the Montgomery County Jail and charged with murder in connection with the fatality, county records show.

There have been several shootings in Montgomery County this year, including two recent fatalities in Trotwood, where there have been six homicides in 2018.
