Area law enforcement agencies were on the lookout Tuesday for a man who is suspected of setting fire to a Beavercreek Twp. home and shooting a dog during a separate incident in Beavercreek early Tuesday morning.

Greene County deputies were advised Tuesday afternoon to be on the lookout for Christopher Mikhak, 33, in connection to a house fire that happened around 2 a.m. in the 2800 block of Ridge View Court in Beavercreek Twp., according to a public records request by this news organization.

Mikhak is also suspected of entering a home in the 4000 block of Danern Drive in Beavercreek, which happened about 30 minutes later, according to Beavercreek Capt. Chad Lindsey.

Lindsey said the suspect knows the homeowners on Danern Drive.

“Mikhak entered the residence through the front door and shot the homeowner’s dog, which survived. The house was occupied at the time, but no one was injured,” Lindsey said.

Police said the suspect fled in an unknown direction in an unknown vehicle. Mikhak is wanted for aggravated burglary, a first-degree felony.

“His location is currently unknown, and Mikhak is considered armed and dangerous,” Lindsey said.

Mikhak is in the middle of a divorce from his estranged wife, whom he married in January 2017, according to Greene County court records.

Judge Steven Hurley granted Mikhak sole occupancy of the couple’s home, which is the residence that caught fire on Ridge View Court, according to court records.

Mikhak’s estranged wife, Amanda Elkins, told this news organization that the Danern Drive home is where her father lives. Elkins said Mikhak entered the home, went into the bedroom, fired a shot — waking her father and stepmother — and demanded to see his son. Elkins said neither she nor her son were at the house. She said Mikhak shot her father’s dog before he left the house.

“He wants to take custody of our son,” she said.

The State Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the fire on Ridge View Court. An inspector from the office was at the location still investigating the scene Tuesday afternoon.

Police ask that if you see Mikhak or can help in the investigation to call the Greene County emergency dispatch center at 937-3765111.
