Suburb plan has support
We got quite a bit of email about a column mentioning a planned suburb near Amsterdam that would be totally green and sustainable.
From Meg Draeger: “I’ve read about Serenbe in the Atlanta area, and the Enright Eco Village in Cincinnati. Bring on sustainability, walkability, nature, and front porches on which to commune with neighbors!”
From Michael Huff: “ReGen Village sounds great. Europe is far ahead of the U.S. in this type of arrangement. I used to work arranging study abroad programs for universities and we had one course that studied sustainability in Europe, and Germany led the way. Vauban in Freiburg has been operating on a smaller scale than the proposal outside of Amsterdam and there are other small pockets. We could learn a thing or two .... ”
