Judge nominated

Miami County Republicans voted Wednesday to nominate a longtime court magistrate to fill the position of county juvenile/probate court judge.

Scott Altenburger was recommended to fill the vacancy created with the retirement of Judge William McGregor “Greg” Dixon, who retired as of April 30. He has been appointed twice by the Ohio Supreme Court to serve 90 days on the bench until a replacement is chosen.

The Republicans had three people who submitted letters of interest for the candidate appointment, said John “Bud” O’Brien, county chairman.
