Soin starting $70 million tower project

Soin Medical Center is starting work on a new five-story, $70 million tower.

The Beavercreek hospital, which opened in 2012, is holding a groundbreaking ceremony at 10 a.m. Sept 10.

The new 170,000-square-foot tower will house more surgical services, cardiac services, private inpatient rooms and unused space to allow for further expansion.

Construction is expected to be completed by the summer of 2020, according to Kettering Health Network, the hospital’s parent company. Miamisburg-based Danis is leading the construction project.

The Dayton Daily News was the first to report that the hospital was considering an expansion when a new site plan was submitted to the city of Beavercreek in March.

The final plans were officially shared in May.

Other projects at the hospital since it opened include expanding the emergency department (2015), adding fifth-floor patient rooms and therapy space (2016) and the opening of an expanded infusion center and clinical exam rooms by Kettering Cancer Care (2017).

In May, the hospital also cut the ribbon for a radiation therapy center.

The 8,300-square-foot radiation therapy center includes a linear accelerator for radiation therapy, as well as a CT simulator and scanner to support the addition of an on-site radiation oncology team.
