Sushi — just eat it

- Amelia Robinson

People who vomit emoji or otherwise dislike sushi are doing me a favor. More sushi for me.

Sushi: either you love it or it makes you want to

it.

The Japanese delight made with vinegared rice — sashimi is raw meat or fish by itself — is v, v, very controversial as it turns out.

Most people have an opinion one way or another, and here is mine.

Sushi, and sashimi for that matter, are delicious. pets and endangered or threatened beasts and sound the dinner bell.

The anti-sushi and sashimi gang seem to fall into two camps: people who can’t get over the raw thing and people who like to eat cooked food.

I understand both schools of thought.

Raw meat has a bad wrap…

I’ve seen it happen. It ain’t pretty.

There is a texture thing to eating raw and basically raw animal flesh.

I get it.

The Ethiopian dish kitfo (minced raw beef marinated in mitmita) is a sensation you have to get use to, but so is pâté and it is cooked.

Like beef ceviche and tuna carpaccio, kitfo is totally worth it.

So is sushi.

Just because something is cooked doesn’t mean it taste better.

Take the difference between a medium rare steak and one that is well done.

My bad if I sound super judgy, but once you get over the meat being red in the center, you’ll see what I mean and never order a well done steak again. Maybe.

Then again, food shouldn’t stress you out.

If the thought of raw fish makes you vomit emoji, order sushi with grilled squid, cooked eel or fried prawn.

Yummy.

Doesn’t that sound delicious?
