Amanda Henderson is the new assistant athletic director for West Carrollton Schools.

What is your connection to West Carrollton?

I’m a graduate from the Class of 2007. I returned to West Carrollton as a physical education teacher in 2014.

I’ve also been a volunteer and coach in girls basketball, golf and softball. I’ll continue to teach physical education. The assistant AD duties are outside of school hours.

What are you looking forward to as assistant AD?

I want to promote and support our student-athletes in sports and academics.

It will be like a second full-time job, but you never coach or do a job like this for the money. It’s about helping kids and helping coaches develop kids in athletics and academics.

I’m also looking forward to working with our new AD, Evan Ivory. We share the same vision about our student-athletes, and I know we’re going to work well together!

We both want to increase involvement in athletics and school spirit. We want athletic events to be the thing to do for students and our community!

What do you see in the future?

My long-term goal would be to become an AD. For now, I’m going to enjoy this opportunity for career growth and continue to support the Pirates!
