Air Force colonel arrested at the Fraze
Complaint alleges Oakwood resident caused disturbance.
Kettering police arrested an Air Force colonel Wednesday at the Fraze Pavilion on charges of resisting arrest and disorderly conduct.
Kettering Municipal Court has scheduled Mark Eugene Muth, 57, of Oakwood, for arraignment at 9 a.m. Thursday.
According to a criminal complaint released by Kettering Municipal Court, Fraze Pavilion staff say they saw Muth on Wednesday evening “causing a disturbance by shoving people in an attempt to get closer to the stage area.”
Fraze staff alleged that Muth shoved them, as well, according to the complaint.
In the complaint statement, Kettering Police Lt. Holly Murchland said staff asked her to escort Muth from the stage area. She said Muth refused to accompany her even after she identified herself as a police officer.
“Muth appeared to be heavily intoxicated,” Murchland said in the statement. “His speech was slurred, his balance was unsteady, and he had an odor of an alcoholic beverage on his breath.”
Murchland said in the statement that Muth “actively resisted” her and another officer by stiffening his body, refusing commands and twisting and moving his arms away from the officers.
On Wednesday, Boy George and Culture Club and Thompson Twins’ Tom Bailey performed at the Fraze.
Muth is a U.S. Air Force colonel assigned to Wright Patterson Air Force Base, to the command surgeon general’s office, base spokeswoman Marie Vanover said. He is not assigned to the base Medical Center, she said.
Base officers have been notified of the charges against Muth, Vanover said.
An Air Force Materiel Command spokesman, Derek Kaufman, said the command has taken no action in light of the charges at this time.
“I have nothing to say to you,” Muth said when reached by this news outlet Friday.
