BUSINESS OPENINGS

Class 101, a national leader in college planning, opened in August to serve students and families throughout the Miami Valley. Class 101 makes college more affordable through 12 personalized services, including ACT/SAT prep, student resume development, essay workshops, and scholarship counseling.

Class 101 students work individually with a college adviser to define their interests, build a large list of schools, and take the steps necessary to achieve their college goals in the most cost-effective manner possible. The end result saves time, money, and frustration.

“We are thrilled to bring Class 101 to our area,” said Karen Lane DeRosa, owner and lead college adviser for Class 101. “As a parent and college instructor, I have seen the pressure-filled path toward college. But Class 101 removes the pressure on teens and their families with a proven system—personalized to each student—that explores schools and interests, sets goals, keeps applications on track, matches students to scholarships, and really encourages the successful transition from high school.”

DeRosa has taught communication courses since 1995 at schools, including the University of Oklahoma, Miami University Hamilton, and Sinclair Community College. She has seen first-hand how proper preparation prior to college translates into success.

Class 101, Dayton-South, already is working with students in grades nine through 12 on college planning. Its first free community ACT practice test is scheduled for Sept. 15 in Springboro with a five-week ACT prep class to begin on Sept. 27. Group college tour days are also scheduled for September and October.

Class 101, Dayton-South, plans to move into its permanent offices in Springboro in October. To learn more about Class 101 or to sign up for any test prep or college tour events, visit www. Class101.com/daytonohsouth or call 937-705-5113.

St. Joseph Orphanage is moving its Dayton-based foster care and mental health services office from Moraine to Vandalia. The new location at 6680 Poe Ave., Suite 450, Dayton, is closer to the center of Dayton, to area bus lines, and to interstates 70 and 75.

“The move should make reaching our office more convenient for our growing number of clients in the Greater Dayton area and in the surrounding counties,” said Liz Clark, supervisor at St. Joseph Orphanage.

The same services provided at the prior location will be offered at the new location. Those services include foster care placement, foster parent trainings, diagnostic assessment, medication management, and office-based therapy. Counselors from St. Joseph Orphanage will also continue providing community-based mental health services.

The Moraine location (3131 South Dixie Dr., Suite 220) closed on Aug. 29th. Clients began using the new office on Sept. 4, 2018. The office’s 937-643-0398 phone number will remain the same.
