Northrop Grumman to expand local operation

A Beavercreek Northrop Grumman manufacturing plant has added 55 employees in the past year — and it’s still hiring.

The defense contractor is not new to Beavercreek. Nearly six years ago, the company consolidated employees from three locations into a 99,246-square-foot facility on Colonel Glenn Highway. Northrop Grumman moved nearly 350 employees to the site from facilities in Fairborn and Kettering in the fall of 2012.

The 4065 Col. Glenn Highway office is a Northrop Grumman corporate regional office supporting the company’s customer-focused business strategies in the Dayton area, a company spokesman said.

That office serves as the principal corporate point of contact for the U.S. Air Force Materiel Command and U.S. Air Force Life Cycle Management Center, both based at nearby Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, the heart of Air Force logistics and Ohio’s largest single-site employer.

Now Northrop Grumman is marking an expansion at another Beavercreek location, 1365 Technology Court, off Research Boulevard, close to the Beavercreek-Kettering municipal border. At that site, workers produce composite-material aerospace components, said company spokesman Bryan Warren.

The company has expanded its Technology Court facility by some 35,000 square feet, Warren said.

The expansion “allows more manufacturing on some programs, work on programs that we’ve taken on. We are having to increase our headcount in that facility as well.”

The plant now has about 155 employees. A year ago, there were 100 workers there.

“We still have plans to continue to hire as need be,” Warren said.

A private ceremony is planned next week to mark the expansion of the Technology Court location.
