Man dies after crash in McDonald’s lot

A 28-year-old male was killed in the parking lot of McDonald’s, 4770 N. Main St., at around 2:45 a.m. on Saturday, according to a news release.

The preliminar­y investigat­ion revealed a 2002 Mercury Mountainee­r, driven by a 32-year-old male, was in the drive-thru line at McDonald’s when some type of physical altercatio­n occurred between the occupants of the Mercury Mountainee­r, occupants of a Lincoln Towncar and occupants of a Toyota Camry.

During the altercatio­n, the Mercury Mountainee­r drove north through the parking lot and struck a large rock, which caused the vehicle to travel over a concrete wall and flip on its side, the release said.

The driver of the vehicle was not injured, but the 28-year-old passenger was pronounced dead at the scene. “While he was beating me, my siblings kept saying ‘please stop hitting my sister,’” she said earlier.

Johnson took a photo of Clark’s car on her phone, which led police to him.

Clark, who was convicted following a bench trial in Miamisburg Municipal Court, was sentenced to pay $155 in fines and serve 180 days in jail, with credit for 21 days already served. in the parking lot, but Beavers said it happened in the roadway.

“The vehicle did knock him off balance and he did get some road rash-type injuries to his knees and the palms of his hands,” he said. “He is a known violator of the store.”

Dollar General, 1431 Wayne Ave., recovered its merchandis­e.

Police did not identify the suspect arrested, but Joshua Jamar Cooper, 31, was arrested at Dollar General and booked around 6 p.m. into the Montgomery County Jail on suspicion of misdemeano­r theft, jail records show.
