Breweries plan own Oktoberfest celebrations
Prost! The Oktoberfest celebrations around Dayton keep going and going.
Some of the signature Oktoberfest festivals may have come and gone (Dayton Art Institute, Springboro and Vandalia), but there are still more to come (Minster, Dayton Liedenkranz-Turner).
To add to the fun, several Dayton-area breweries are hosting their own Oktoberfest celebrations.
Here’s the rundown:
DEVIL WIND BREWING OKTOBERFEST
Celebrate the spirit of Munich in the heart of Xenia. Special brews include festbier, “Ein Prosit!,” a flavorful lager with a slightly spicy hint of hops on the finish. Commemorative steins will be on sale for $15, including the first pour. Food will be provided by Kleinfelder Hots & Brats. Entertainment will be provided by Nothing But Treble beginning at 7:30 p.m. Lederhosen aren’t required but encouraged.
What: Devil Wind Oktoberfest
When: Sept. 29 from noon to midnight

MOTHER STEWART’S BREWING CO.
Mother Stewart’s Oktoberfest celebration continues. It kicked off on Sept. 22 with a visit from Schmidt’s and the Sauerkraut German Band and continues this weekend and next weekend.
Saturday, Sept. 29: Schmidt’s will be back and the Sauerkraut German Band will perform from 4-9 p.m. Other special events include MustardFEST, the Champion City Wiener Dog Race and the Woeber Mustard Recipe Cook-Off
Friday, Oct. 5: Schmidt’s will be back along with Ken & Mary Turbo Accordion Express
Saturday, Oct. 6: Schmidt’s will be back and the Sauerkraut German Band will perform from 4-9 p.m. followed by Trout Steak Revival and Pert Near Sandstone.
