Dayton-area Whole Foods Market customers can now pick up their online grocery orders at the Washington Twp. store’s curb.

Amazon announced today that it will expand grocery curbside pickup to three new U.S. locations, including Dayton. The Whole Foods store at 1050 Miamisburg Centerville Road in Washington Twp. also started offering delivery at the end of August.

The grocery pickup service is one of Amazon’s newest services, first launching in August. It’s now available in eight cities. Amazon plans to continue the expansion.

Customers can place an order through the Prime Now app. The pickup is free in as little as an hour on orders of $35 or more and $4.99 in less than half an hour. The service is available 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily.

Prime members receive deep discounts on select products and an additional 10 percent off hundreds of sale items. They also receive 5 percent cash-back on Amazon purchases when using the Amazon Prime Rewards credit card.

Dayton is the first Ohio city to offer Whole Foods pickup. It is also available in Fort Worth, Kennesaw, Richmond, Sacramento, Virginia Beach, Louisville and Omaha. Customers of Whole Foods Market must be Prime members to receive pickup or delivery.

An Amazon spokesperson couldn’t give specifics as to why Dayton was in the first eight cities to receive the service, but said they “evaluate a variety of things when considering where to launch and expand.”
