Trump's Lebanon rally to close major routes

Expect congestion near event between 1 p.m. and 10 p.m.

-

President Donald Trump will hold a rally this evening at the Warren County Fairgrounds as part of a six-state tour for Republican candidates up for election this November. He will be campaigning for U.S. Senate candidate Jim Renacci.

The event is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.

How to get tickets

People may register for up to two tickets per mobile number on a first-come, first-served basis at www.donaldjtrump.com/rallies/oh-oct-2018.

How to go

Trump and others making speeches are to be in Building E, a covered, open-air event facility near the southwestern corner of the fairgrounds.

Anyone going to the rally should arrive at or after 2 p.m. There will be a security screening before entering the rally. Those attending are encouraged to bring as few items as possible, according to the city of Lebanon.

The fairgrounds will be

closed to the public before that time. Those arriving early will be asked to leave by 11:30 a.m. so the site can be secured.

Attendees will be required to enter through the track where there will be a series of security checkpoints.

Traffic concerns

Lebanon said that all major north-to-south routes will be closed for up to 45 minutes before and after the rally. Traffic is expected to be congested between 1 p.m. and 10 p.m. because of those closures.

While exact details of the president’s route will not be released, motorists can also expect significant delays and closures in the late afternoon during rush hour Friday on:

■ The northern loop of Interstate 275

■ I-71 from I-275

■ I-71 to Ohio 48

■ Ohio 48 from I-71

Democrats also will rally

Democrats plan to counter the rally with one of their own, just south of the Trump rally site at 511 N. Broadway.

“I guess he’s campaigning for ’20. We’re going to go out and do a more positive thing,” Bethe Goldenfield, chair of the Warren County Democratic Party, said.
