The Decorative Artists Guild of Southweste­rn Ohio (DAGSO) members were given a 10” x 10” wooden square to paint on for this challenge. They could use any medium and paint any subject. JEWISH CULTURAL ARTS AND BOOK FESTIVAL: 7 p.m. at Carillon Brewing Co., 1000 Carillon Blvd., Dayton. Disarmed with author Izzy Ezagui, an American who enlisted in the Israel Defense Forces at 19 and lost his arm in a mortar attack on the border of the Gaza Strip. Ezagui recounts his tortuous trek through rehabilita­tion to becoming the world’s only one-armed Special Forces sharpshoot­er.

JEWISH CULTURAL ARTS AND BOOK FESTIVAL: 7 p.m. at Boonshoft Center for Jewish Culture & Education, 525 Versailles Dr., Dayton. This Narrow Space with author Dr. Elisha Waldman, who spent seven years in Jerusalem treating children - Israeli Jews, Muslims, Christians and Palestinia­n Arabs - who had all been diagnosed with cancer. Waldman details both his accomplish­ments as well as his frustratio­n when politics and cultural difference­s got in the way of his patients’ care.
