The City of Centerville has filled two key positions. City Manager Wayne Davis announced the appointment of Mariah Butler Vogelgesang to the position of Assistant City Manager and Holly Christmann as Economic Development Administrator.
Vogelgesang has been a public sector administrator at Purdue University and most recently Cleveland State University, where for the past five years she served as the associate director of the Office of Institutional Equity. In her role, she was responsible for daily oper- ations, policy implemen- tation, compliance initiatives, and large-scale change management. Prior to work- ing in higher education, she practiced law in the Dayton area. A native of Zanesville, Vogelgesang is a graduate of the University of Mary Wash- ington and the University of Dayton School of Law. Her duties include a vari- ety of administrative func- tions and providing leader- ship in strategic initiatives.
Christmann comes to Center ville from Hamil- ton County, where she was employed for 22 years, serv- ing the past five years as Director of Environmental Services. As director, she worked extensively with county environmental ini- tiatives, managed a $7 million budget and worked closely with businesses and communities. Originally from Defiance, Christmann has a Bachelor of Science degree in Public Affairs and Environmental Science from Indiana University. Christmann will work to attract, retain and develop new businesses to Centerville.
The Dayton/Montgomery County Convention & Visi- tors Bureau (CVB) announced that Christina Combs, CMP (Certified Meeting Planner), has joined the Bureau as a sales manager. Combs comes to the Convention & Visitors Bureau from the Marriott at the University of Dayton where she was a sales manager. Prior to working at the Marriott, she worked as a sales manager for the Dayton CVB.
Combs will be responsi- ble for bringing state association, government, and corporate events to Dayton/ Montgomery County.
The Dayton/Montgomery County Convention & Visi- tors Bureau, an independent, non-profit organization funded by a county-wide customer hotel/motel bed tax, serves as an economic catalyst by marketing and promoting the community as “the” Ohio destination and providing services for tourism events, conventions, leisure and business travel and advocacy for destination development.
Coldwater Machine Company, a leading engineered solutions company that manufactures and integrates assembly automation and special machines for a variety of industries, has hired Gordon Mattix as its engineering manager. Mattix will be responsible for supervising the engineering staff at both Coldwater’s headquarters and its Dayton office, overseeing hiring, design, development, and scheduling of the company’s projects.
Mattix has over 30 years’ experience as a general manager, project manager and manufacturing engineer for the automotive, defense and commercial industries, including international experience in China. Most recently he served as manager of project management for Hirata Corp. in New Hudson, Mich.
Mattix holds a Bachelor of Science degree in manufacturing engineering from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. Additionally, he is a Certified Project Management Professional.

Marxent teamed with Wright State University to create The Marxent Prize — A Wright State University Scholarship for Women in Engineering. Handed out annually since 2014, The Marxent Prize is a one-year scholarship awarded to returning juniors attending Wright State University’s College of Engineering and Computer Science.
Recently, Marxent announced that 2016 Marxent Prize winner Emily Novak has accepting a web developer position and joined its team.
Lisa Wagner joined the Dayton Rotary Club on Monday, Sept. 24, 2018. Wagner is the Executive Director for Levitt Pavilion Dayton and a resident of Dayton.
Jill Dietrich joined the Dayton Rotary Club of Monday, Sept. 24, 2018. Dietrich is the CEO/Director of Dayton VA Medical Center and a resident of Beavercreek.
