Police: Body found by mall was dumped

- TOLEDO

Richmond Heights police believe the body of a woman found near the city’s mall last week was dumped there.

Ginger Blanchard, 40, was found Oct. 7 by two juveniles who reported seeing a body in the wooded area of the overflow parking lot, according to a Richmond Heights police report.

Officers found Blanchard’s body lying face down with a bandage on her left arm, police said. Investigators have not said whether they believe she died as a result of a homicide..

Authorities have not release many details about what happened but think someone might have dropped Blanchard’s body in the area and left her there.

Police said Blanchard had multiple addresses listed for her, including one that puts her on the far east side of Cleveland.

The investigation remains open.

The Diocese of Toledo announced it is placing a priest on administrative leave because of an allegation he sexually abused a minor more than 25 years ago.

In a media release Saturday, Toledo Bishop Daniel Thomas said the Rev. Nelson Beaver was placed on leave as a precautionary step while law enforcement and church officials investigate the accusation. During that time, Father Beaver will not be allowed to continue duties as the pastor of Resurrection Parish in Lexington, Ohio, and St. Mary of the Snows Parish in Mansfield, Ohio.

“The allegation was not made in relation to these parish assignments,” Bishop Thomas wrote. “He is no longer residing at those parishes while on administrative leave.”

Father Beaver has denied the allegation, which is the only one filed against him, Bishop Thomas wrote in the release.

Information about the accusation was turned over to law enforcement and the diocese is also conducting an independent investigation, which will also be turned over to law enforcement, he said.

“We take every allegation of abuse of a minor with the utmost seriousness,” Bishop Thomas said.

The release does not make clear how church leaders learned of the allegation, where and when the alleged sex abuse occurred, and which law enforcement agency the diocese contacted. Caliber and ran several errands, including dropping his girlfriend off at work and driving to the Eagle Mart on East 93rd Street and Mitchell Avenue in the city’s Kinsman neighborhood.

He bought a few items from the store and walked outside, police said.

Two men walked up to the man, put a gun to his side and demanded he get into the car, police reports say.

The gunmen tied him up in the back seat and rummaged through his pockets, according to police reports. They stole $300 from the man and left him tied up, according to police.

The man stayed tied up until he was able to loosen the rope enough to call 911. Police found him still partially tied up in the back seat of the car, according to police reports.
