Magnificen­t fall foliage is just part of the visual and recreation­al appeal of this season in New England, and for those who aren’t part of the annual visiting horde of tourists, PBS fills the gap with this new three-night live event, airing through Friday. From the scenic banks of Squam Lake, New Hampshire, travel journalist Samantha Brown, BBC host Chris Packham and wildlife cinematogr­apher Bob Poole jointly host this survey of this region’s fall wonders, joined by local experts.

Riverdale, 8 PM on Ch. 26:

Jughead and Betty (Cole Sprouse, Lili Reinhart) team up again to investigat­e the latest local mystery after they make a gruesome discovery in the forest in the new episode “Chapter Thirty-Seven. Fortune and Men’s Eyes.” Veronica (Camila Mendes), meanwhile, seeks a way to bring a little of Archie’s (KJ Apa) home to him as he is familiariz­ing himself with his new surroundin­gs. Kevin (Casey Cott) frets that Moose (guest star Cody Kearsley) may be pulling away from him.

CMT Artists of the Year 2018, 8 PM on CMTV and TVL; 9:40 PM on CMTV:

Country music legend Loretta Lynn, 86, will be honored with the Artist of a Lifetime award during this year’s all-female event, where that trophy will be presented by actress Sissy Spacek, who won an Academy Award as best actress for playing Lynn in the 1980 biopic “Coal Miner’s Daughter.” Other honorees include Carrie Underwood, Miranda Lambert, Kelsea Ballerini, Maren Morris, Little Big Town colleagues Karen Fairchild and Kimberly Schlapman, and Hillary Scott of Lady Antebellum.
