Centerville CENTERVILLE — police have located the parents of a girl found wandering alone on a city street Thursday morning.

Community relations officer John Davis said police began looking for the parents of the 4-year-old child who was wandering on North Main Street near Bradstreet Road.

The girl was wearing black leggings, a black quarter-zip pullover, black socks and no shoes.

Police were able to locate the girl’s parents eventually, but Davis said law enforcement still has questions.

“The investigation is ongoing. We know that the child was left with a family member in the area where she was located,” he said. “However, we are still trying to determine how the child went unnoticed for such a long period of time.”

Police had to deal with a similar case in July when a boy was found alone twice in a week.

Officers were contacted after someone spotted the boy alone near Stingley Elementary School off Linden Drive, more than a mile away from his Revere Village Court residence.

But an investigation revealed that the boy was deaf and known to have autism.

Officers did charge the boy’s parents, issuing them a court summons for child endangering, investigators said.

Police said they’ve had issues with the 10-year-old leaving his home without his parents knowing before.
