‘Great American Read’ reveals best-loved novel

Don’t miss: “The Great American Read” — Book lovers, rejoice. For several weeks, this literarymi­nded series has led us on a fascinatin­g journey through the pages of the nation’s 100 favorite tomes. Now comes the finale, in which host Meredith Vieira at long last reveals America’s best-loved novel, as determined by viewer votes. So what will it be? At last glance, “Charlotte’s Web,” by E.B. White, was at the head of the pack. If that lead holds up, it would really be some pig. (8 p.m. Tuesday, PBS).

Sunday: “The Lover in the Attic: A True Story” is the bizarre 1930sera saga of a married woman named Dolly (Molly Burnett) who has an affair with her repairman, Otto (Kevin Fonteyne). She then moves Otto into the attic to be her sex slave and things get weirder — and more violent. (8 p.m., Lifetime).

Monday: “DC’s Legends of Tomorrow” returns for a new season. After the Legends defeated Mallus and wiped the final anachronis­m from time, they find themselves in unfamiliar territory with the Time Bureau. All that changes when Constantin­e informs Sara of a new magical threat that leads the team to Woodstock. (9 p.m., The CW).

Tuesday: Break out the peanuts and Cracker Jack. It’s time for the World Series. Joe Buck and John Smoltz call the action as the American League and National League champions square off. (5 p.m., Fox).

Tuesday: “The Guest Book,” an anthology comedy, returns for Season 2 with a new town (Mabel Beach) and a new tourist destinatio­n (the Bare Feet Retreat). But as always, the guests arrive with plenty of personal baggage. (10 p.m., TBS).

Wednesday: The 37th season of “Nature” introduces viewers to the planet’s “ultimate cats.” The list covers everything from the famously fast cheetah to the lonesome snow leopard. (8 p.m., PBS).

Wednesday: In a turbo-charged, two-part “SEAL Team” story line that begins tonight and concludes next week, the Bravo Team is in Mumbai to rescue a U.S. Foreign Service officer being held hostage by radicals who attacked the city. (9 p.m., CBS).

Thursday: The new drama series “Legacies” is a follow-up to “The Originals.” It’s about the next generation of supernatur­al beings at The Salvatore Boarding School for the Young and Gifted — including Hope Mikaelson, played by Danielle Rose Russell. (9 p.m., The CW).

Thursday: “Deutschlan­d 86,” the sequel to the German series “Deutschlan­d 83,” sends undercover agent Martin Rauch ( Jonas Nay) on a dangerous new mission. This one leads him to South Africa, Angola, Libya, Paris, West Berlin and finally back to East Berlin, where he faces an impossible decision. (Midnight, Sundance TV).

Friday: Kiernan Shipka (“Mad Men”) stars as the title character in “Chilling Adventures of Sabrina.” The series imagines the origin and adventures of Sabrina the Teenage Witch as a dark coming-ofage story that traffics in horror, the occult and, of course, witchcraft. (Netflix).

Saturday: In the Oscar-nominated film “The Post,” Tom Hanks and Meryl Streep deliver strong performanc­es as Washington Post executive editor Ben Bradlee and publisher Katharine Graham. Set in 1971, the movie recalls the newspaper’s attempts to publish the Pentagon Papers. (8 p.m., HBO).
