Mayor Brooks Compton and Centerville City Council members attended the grand opening for the extended stay hotel, according to Community Resources Coordinator Maureen Russell Hodgson.
A standard studio suite is one large room that contains living, cooking and sleeping areas. The one-bedroom suite is a little larger, with a wall that separates the bedroom from the kitchen and living areas, according to information provided by Hilton.
The kitchen area includes a refrigerator, microwave oven, dishwasher, flatware, microwavable cookware, coffeemaker and toaster.
When the hotel was proposed in 2016, some neighbors spoke up during a public hearing and expressed concerns about how it would affect the dynamics of their neighborhood. Some worried about noise and traffic, others talked about blocked views.
Many stores and businesses have come into the Cornerstone of Centerville development, including Cabela’s, First Financial Bank, Chickfil-A, Panda Express and Kroger.
