Woman, 71, killed in Clark County wreck

Two children are recovering after a car crash Saturday evening near Enon where a Springfiel­d woman died and two other adults were injured.

A 2005 Chevrolet Uplander minivan, driven by Linda K. Camp, 71, of Springfiel­d, was heading west on Dayton Springfiel­d Road when she drove left of the center line and struck a 2001 Lexus LX470 SUV, driven by Margaret I. Wagner, 27, of Oakwood.

The crash was head-on, according to Ohio State Highway Patrol.

Camp was taken to Springfiel­d Regional Medical Center where she was pronounced dead upon arrival.

Two children, both girls, were in Camp’s van and were not wearing seatbelts, according to state police.

The 8-year-old was taken to Dayton Children’s Hospital in serious condition and the 12-year-old was also taken to Dayton Children’s Hospital in critical condition. As of Sunday afternoon, the 12-year-old was downgraded to serious condition and the 8-year-old was downgraded to good condition, according to police.

Wagner was taken to Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton with minor injuries. Her passenger, Matthew A. Bierma, 34, of Springfiel­d, was taken to Soin Medical Center in Beavercree­k with minor injuries.

The crash closed Dayton Springfiel­d Road for about four hours. Highway patrol was assisted by Mad River Twp. Fire and EMS, Fairborn EMS, and the Clark County Sheriff ’s Office.

The crash remains under investigat­ion.

Camp’s death closely follows two other fatal crashes in Clark County.

Two drivers died Oct. 4 after two accidents that day. A 37-year-old from Wilmington was killed after his semi-truck struck the rear of another truck stopped in traffic on Interstate 70 between state Routes 41 and 72 in Springfiel­d Twp.

A 66-year-old man was killed later that day after his SUV was struck from behind on I-70 in Mad River Twp. by a semi-truck.
