Premier Health SPRINGBORO — will pay $100,000 for naming rights for the theater in Springboro’s new $4.5 million performing arts center.

The theater is to be named the Premier Health Theater, according to a press release issued on Monday by the city of Springboro.

It will be the new home for the Playhouse South Community Theater Group, which will be relocating from Kettering to the performing arts center, which is expected to anchor the new Wright Station development.

“The Premier Health Theater will be utilized for live performances by Playhouse South, performances by the Center Stage Dance studio, who will also be housed in the building, presentations and meetings with the Springboro Area Chamber of Commerce, and many other civic and community events,” according to the press release.

Beginning in October 2019, the hospital is to make five annual $20,000 payments, according to the agreement obtained Monday by the Dayton Daily News.

The city can seek other agreements, provided they aren’t with hospitals. The hospital has a right of first refusal to extend the deal, according to the agreement.

The development is to take place on 6 acres formerly known as the Springboro IGA Plaza. The city-

owned land is on the northwest corner of the city’s central crossroads, Ohio 73 and Ohio 741, Central Avenue and Main Street in Springboro.

“We are extremely excited to announce this partnership between the city and Premier Health,” Springboro City Manager Chris Pozzuto said in the release announcing the naming-rights agreement. “Premier Health has made significant investments within the city and the Springboro Schools, and they are obviously a good fit for the city. We look forward to our continued strong relationship with them moving forward.”

Springboro-based Watkins Heating & Cooling recently joined the hospital in holding naming rights for the football stadium for the Springboro Community City Schools.

The company is to contribute $800,000 to help redo the artificial turf and has an option to take over sole rights at what has always been known as CareFlight Field from the hospital.

Mary Boosalis, president and CEO of Premier Health, added, “Premier Health understands that the health of the communities we serve is linked to the quality of life that those individuals enjoy. Whenever possible, Premier Health seeks to partner in our communities’ economic development and cultural life, and we are pleased to work with city officials to expand cultural opportunities in Springboro.”
