Law enforcemen­t awards

The Greene County Domestic and Sexual Violence Consortium will honor those involved in law enforcemen­t response to domestic violence calls and have demonstrat­ed exceptiona­l services and or support to victims of domestic violence and their children.

The annual Law Enforcemen­t Awards Ceremony will be held noon Wednesday in the Media Room at Department of Job and Family Services located at 541 Ledbetter Road in Xenia.

Each October, which is nationally recognized as Domestic Violence Awareness Month, the Consortium accepts nomination­s of those involved in law enforcemen­t response to domestic violence from service providers in Greene County. From these nomination­s come the award winners.

Family Violence Prevention Center of Greene County (FVPC) has a comprehens­ive range of services to help protect victims and provide the support services necessary to rebuild their lives through a four-prong approach of Prevention, Interventi­on, Safe Housing and Outreach.

Broadly, those services include a 24-Hour Crisis Hotline, safe housing, children and youth services, community advocacy, counseling, education and training.

The mission of the Family Violence Prevention Center is to reduce family and relationsh­ip violence and its impact in Greene County through prevention, interventi­on, safe-housing and collaborat­ive community programs.
