Born December 1st, 1948, at the age 69, went home to be with the Lord on, Saturday, September 29th, 2018. “Bill” was preceded in death by his mother: Arlene “Schmidt” Cleary & loving Sister-in-Law, Yuvonne M. Cleary. He is survived by his father; William E. Cleary, Sr. and six siblings. Brothers; Benjamin Cleary, Timothy “Taco” (Jane ) Cleary, Patrick Cleary Sisters Milly (Tim) Adams, Jennifer (Steve) Keaton, Jessica (Rick) Cornett. Bill was a beloved uncle to sixteen nieces & nephews, and several great nieces and nephews. Bill attended Stebbins High School, Class of 1967. He was a record breaking track & field/cross country runner. But, he was never one to like the recognitio­n, so he wouldn’t go to the podium to accept any awards. Bill joined the Navy after graduation. He served on the USS New Jersey (BB-62) battleship which was recommissi­oned for the Vietnam War. He was twice awarded “Best Dressed”. In 1972, Bill moved to Alaska, where he worked as a Heavy Equipment Operator on the Alaskan Pipeline. While there, he also became a skilled carpenter and builder. In 1992, Bill returned to his roots in Ohio, where he bought a beautiful farm. He often had cattle and farmed hay. He loved the outdoors and lived simply on the land God gave to him. In his last line of work, Bill operated a semi-truck for a local concrete company. Bill was a hard worker, a wonderful brother, uncle & son. He was a dependable friend who would always lend a helping hand. He loved his family, friends, and the Lord. He will be greatly missed. “God created the Earth, and I cleared it…enjoy the view.”-Bill Cleary.

A celebratio­n of life service will be held at 11:30 AM on November 3, 2018, at Emmanuel Baptist Church at 1501 E 3rd St, Dayton, OH. 45403. Lunch will be provided for family and friends following the service. In lieu of flowers, please donate to Hospice of Dayton.
