and Ch. 48: This landmark Emmy- and Peabody Award-winning series launches its 37th season with “Super Cats: A Nature Miniseries,” a three-part production (airing weekly through Nov. 7) that features aspects of wild cat behavior that have been captured on film for the first time. The opening hour, “Super Cats: Extreme Lives,” explores how cats as diverse as the solitary snow leopard of the Himalayas and the swamp tiger of South Asia manage to survive and thrive.

HALL: James Denton and Beth Stern host this year’s special that celebrates the powerful relationsh­ip between dogs and people, honoring extraordin­ary canine finalists in seven categories: law enforcemen­t and arson dog, emerging hero dog, guide and hearing dog, military dog, search and rescue dog, service dog and therapy dog. These stellar canines, selected in a nationwide online search, are honored for their remarkable devotion, bravery and companions­hip.

CMTV; 1 AM on CMTV: A new episode finds multiplati­num singer-songwriter Shawn Mendes joining the Grammy-winning Zac Brown Band for a joint concert that was recorded last month near Nashville, Tenn. The Toronto-born Mendes still is riding high following the release last May of his third album, which debuted at the No. 1 spot on the Billboard 200 album chart. Brown’s group, which delivers a pleasing Southern Rock sound, has had five consecutiv­e albums reach the top 10 of the same sales chart.
