The new Midmark Corp. headquarters at Austin Landing is now in operation.

The medical, dental and veterinary healthcare equipment provider announced today that it finalized its move from Dayton to the corner of Penny Lane and Rigby Road at Austin Landing, according to a release.

“This is a pivotal, exciting time for Midmark, as we continue to strengthen our role in the health care industry and maintain our position as a strong, active member of the Dayton region,” said John Baumann, president and CEO of Midmark.

The 12,000 square-foot headquarters, which was announced in November, is designed to make employees’ jobs easier through an open floor plan and mix of workstations and conference rooms, the statement said.

“We believe improving the pointof-care experience for our customers starts with our Midmark Teammates. They are at the heart of why we put so much focus on design. ... You will walk into a space and know you’re at Midmark,” Baumann said.

The company is building an 107,000-square-foot research center in Versailles, the Darke County community where the company has 900 employees and most of its presence.

The 12-acre project is expected to create 97 new jobs, according to the Dayton-Montgomery County Port Authority,.

Port Authority trustees recently voted to approve a capital lease financing structure for the project so that the construction of the building would be shielded from paying state and local property taxes for materials. The resulting savings to Midmark is estimated to be up to $688,0000, according to Port Authority documents.

The Port Authority also got trustee approval for issuance of up to $25 million in lease revenue bonds, which will be purchased by a lender arranged by Midmark.

The Port Authority will hold title to the new research center, and it will finance, and build the project on a capital lease basis. The company will purchase the building from the Port Authority at the end of a lease period of at least five years.

The company has nearly 1,700 employees worldwide.

Midmark’s former location in the 1700 South Patterson Building will be occupied by the University of Dayton Research Institute.
