Piqua residents will be getting more medical services after Sidney-based Wilson Health expands into Miami County.

Wilson Health announced it will open a Piqua office in the spring with primary care and ob/gyn services.

“Our growth strategy is to provide services where there is a need,” Duane Francis, interim president and CEO of Wilson Health, said in a statement. “After thorough assessment and discussions with government and community leaders, we determined opening a medical office in Piqua will allow us to help meet the demands in Miami County.”

The medical office will open at 1255 E. Ash St. in a leased space at the Advanced Foot and Ankle Care’s Piqua building. Wilson Health said renovation will begin soon.

While Miami County is now dominated by Dayton-based Premier Health and its affiliated Upper Valley Medical Center, Wilson is among other health networks recently expanding into the area.

A half mile from Wilson’s future medical office, Kettering Health Network bought seven acres though it hasn’t announced plans for the site. Both Wilson and Kettering Health’s sites are within a mile of competing Upper Valley’s Outpatient Care Center/ North at 280 N. Looney Road.

Kettering is also opening a new hospital in Troy in the summer of 2019. The threestory, nearly 100,000-squarefoot hospital will have an ER, cancer care, imaging, surgery and other inpatient and outpatient services.

In addition, Dayton Children’s Hospital is opening a new outpatient office at 864 W. Market St., Troy, that will bring smaller offices under one roof and expand services.
