-

A 49-year-old man was arrested for felonious assault following a shooting in the 3500 block of North Main Street on Wednesday morning.

Steven Coleman was booked into the Montgomery County Jail pm Wednesday morning.

Dayton police responded to the report of a shooting just before 1 a.m. and found an adult male in the street suffering from a gunshot wound. Authorities did not indicate where the man was shot on his body, but a 911 caller told dispatchers the victim was shot in the face.

The man was transported to Miami Valley Hospital with conditions ranging from serious to critical, officials said.

Police were made aware of a person of interest who reportedly lived in an apartment located above the lounge, prompting them to evacuate the building.

“After we gave a few commands over the PA system for him to exit the building, he complied and came outside with his hands up without incident,” said Sergeant Chad Knedler.

The suspect was taken in for questioning. No word on if he will be charged in connection to the shooting.

The stolen car, a 2014 Chevrolet Sonic taken from the University of Dayton area, was traveling south on Enroe Drive when the driver ran a stop sign. The Chevy slammed into the passenger side of 1998 Buick car, driven by Brown, sending the Buick into a DP&L pole.

Brown and her passenger, identified as Nathaniel Parker, 29, of Harrison Twp., were trapped in their car after the crash.

Brown was pronounced dead at the scene. Parker, who was initially believed to have suffered critical injuries, was listed in fair condition at Miami Valley Hospital Wednesday, according to a hospital representative.

The driver of the stolen car fled on foot after the crash, police said. Officers asked for the public’s assistance Monday to help locate and identify the driver of the car.

Anyone who witnessed the crash or has information is asked to call detective J. Sanders at 937-333-1104.
