Mayfield wants Browns ‘back in race’
Rookie QB could be ‘dangerous’ against reeling Bengals.
Rookie quarterback BEREA —
Baker Mayfield expects to continue to feel dangerous enough on game days to carry the Browns to an elusive winning streak.
Stringing victories together with a team that hasn’t prevailed in consecutive games since 2014 is his top priority coming off a Week 11 bye.
“Lead this team to a bunch of wins. Put us back in the race,” Mayfield said Wednesday when asked to list his individual goals for the final six games.
If Mayfield keeps playing the way he has in recent weeks, the Browns (3-6-1) should have a good chance to snap their 25-game road losing streak Sunday against the Cincinnati Bengals (5-5) and remain on the periphery of the playoff hunt.
In thepast two games, including a 28-16 win over the Atlanta Falcons on Nov. 11, Mayfield has completed 74.2 percent of his passes for 513 yards and five touchdowns with one interception, taken two sacks and posted a rating of 118.5.
In the previous six games, five of which Mayfield started, he completed 58.3 percent of his passes for eight touchdowns with six interceptions, taken 20 sacks and posted a rating of 78.9.
