Honda sets up Anna plant expansion
More than $36 million in construction permits have been applied for.

Honda appears to be gearing up for a big expansion at its Anna engine plant.
The automaker recently applied to Shelby County for a new building construction permit valued at $33 million.
The joint Honda of America and Devon Industrial Group application — filed near the end of November — seeks permission to build a 119,063-square-foot building for manufacturing and storage at 12500 Meranda Road in Anna.
A second concurrent application seeks permission to build a 29,244-square-foot addition, also for storage, valued at $3.5 million.
Devon corporate partner Wallbridge was hired 12 years ago to oversee expansion of the Anna South Plant, the Devon website says.
That $40 million project included 340,000 square feet of new construction at the complex in the form of a 135,000-square-foot addition to the manufacturing facility and a 207,000-square-foot addition to expand its existing truck container yard.
A Honda spokeswoman acknowledged the building permit applications but declined to comment Wednesday.

And this spring, Honda announced plans to invest more than $30 million at three Buckeye State facilities as part of a plan to boost production of the company’s electric vehicles.
Honda has about 13,000 employees total in Ohio, including about 1,000 Dayton-area workers who commute to the automaker’s central Ohio plants.
American Honda Motor Co. has about 600 employees in the pair of Troy distribution operations off Interstate 75.
