Walmart expands Dayton-area grocery delivery
Walmart recently expanded its grocery delivery service to the Dayton area in a race to keep up in the grocery wars .
Grocers in the Miami Valley have been adding pickup and delivery options over the past several years to keep up with changing consumer habits that favor convenience and speed. The newest move by Walmart brings grocery delivery to shoppers in Dayton, Xenia and Moraine.
Other suburbs in the area don’t yet have delivery, but the company plans to continue expansion in the Buckeye State. To see if delivery in an option in your neighborhood, enter your address on Walmart’s website.
Here’s how you can get Walmart delivery.
■ Start creating shopping lists at walmart.com/grocery or in the Walmart Grocery mobile app. Groceries, toys, baby, beauty, electronics and other departments have merchandise available for the service.
■ Choose a date and time for order to be delivered.
■ Add payment information for the order total plus the $9.95 delivery fee. No money should be exchanged at the door. On the first order, shoppers can use the promo code FRESHCAR to get free delivery on a $50 purchase.
After the customer submits an order, Walmart shoppers will pick the merchandise and request a delivery partner to drive items straight to the customer’s door.
Walmart’s delivery method is different than others like Instacart and Shipt, which advertise subscriptions. Walmart’s items will also always be the same cost as in stores, where other subscription services upcharge some products.
Walmart also offers free curb-side pickup for shoppers who don’t want to leave their vehicles but want to avoid extra fees.
