After nearly a year, city names finance director
After nearly a year and two rounds of applicants, the city of Franklin has found its new finance director.
Franklin City Council on Monday appointed Cynthia Ryan to the post, effective Feb. 26. Her base salary will be $86,206 per year.
Ryan, who is Centerville’s assistant finance director, said it was “a good chance to move up and progress with my career.”
“I’m excited to get started,” she said. “Every-
one has been so welcoming. It’s a great place.”
Ryan was at Monday’s special meeting with her husband Bill and their three daughters.
She replaces Karen Ervin, who left last May to become Monroe’s finance director, and Amy Miller, an employee who had served as interim finance director.
Mayor Todd Hall called Ryan “a wonderful fit.”
“We waited to find what we wanted,” Hall said. “She is very experi-
enced. She knows the state audit system and worked in a larger city. She has the skill and ability to help keep us strong on track financially.”
A certified public accountant, Ryan has been Centerville’s assistant finance director since 2016. Prior to that, she was the internal audit manager at the Univer
sity of Dayton from 2011 to 2016, an audit manager for the Auditor of State’s Office from 2000 to 2011 and an assistant auditor with the Auditor of State from 1996 to 2000.
Ryan is a 1996 graduate of Ohio University and completed treasurer’s license classes in 2009 at the University of Phoenix.
