Native plant sale

Now is the time to begin planning to add native plants to your landscape with help from Greene County Parks & Trails’ Native Plant Sale featuring a wide variety of native species including perennials, trees and shrubs.

All preorders must be placed by 4 p.m., Friday, April 12; all plants must be picked up between noon to 4 p.m., Saturday, May 5, at James Ranch Park, 177 Fairground Road, in Xenia. An order form may be obtained at the Narrows Reserve Nature Center, 2575 Indian Ripple Road, in Xenia, or the Greene County Parks & Trails headquarte­rs, 575 Ledbetter Road, in Xenia, 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday to Friday.

Native plants support the struggling pollinator population and can be easily incorporat­ed into traditiona­l or existing landscapes.

Plants offered include Alleghany Serviceber­ry, Persimmon, Tulip Poplar, Spicebush, Grey Owl Eastern Red Cedar, Elderberry, Blackhaw Viburnum, Rattlesnak­e Master, Blue False Indigo, Blue Bird Smooth Aster, Vibrant Dome New England Aster, Dense Blazing Star, Jerusalem Artichoke, Eastern Bee Balm, Indian Grass, Marsh Marigold, Dwarf Larkspur, Blue Flag Iris, Indian Pink, Jack in the Pulpit, Virginia Bluebells, Bloodroot, Wood Poppy, Large White Trillium and Toad-shade Trillium.
